CSUN AT Conference Day 2 (part one)

I went to a session about two new master's degrees that are being offered at California State University, Northridge (CSUN). They are both MSc degrees in assistive technology, but there are two streams that students can choose from. One stream has a focus on AT and Human Services, and the other focuses on AT and Rehabilitation Technology Engineering. The former stream takes aspects of the social, psychological, legal and practical knowledge surrounding AT, while the latter stream will teach you how to actually design and manufacture assistive technology devices.

It is a two-year program, slated to start in Spring 2010. As of now, the program is only offered on the CSUN campus using face-to-face teaching, but they are hoping to offer the program by distance in 2012. Check out the program website below for more information.

Online Microsoft OneNote Training

ITS Training Services has made a new online training library available through PAWS. The training library consists of over 400 videos to teach you techniques in a wide variety of programs like Photoshop, Dreamweaver, and GarageBand. There is even an EBay Essentials training course.

One training course that might come in handy for most students is Microsoft OneNote 2007 Essentials. We often recommend that students purchase a Toshiba tablet PC so they can use the record function in conjunction with OneNote. Although the program comes with a pretty good tutorial, this online training course is way more comprehensive.

You must be a U of S student, faculty, or staff member to have access to the training library, and to get there you must log into your PAWS account, then look under the PD and Training tab for the Online Training Library channel. For more information, check out the ITS Online Training Library website:
