The Department of Family Medicine is pleased to have Linda Snell from McGill University for our November Faculty Development retreat. The topic will be conflict resolution. I have heard Linda speak on the subject before and it should be a very interesting talk.
There will be two workshops relating to instructing International Medical Graduates. The first is November 8th from 1:00-4:00 and will discuss Delivering Effective Feedback to IMGs. The second is from 6:30-9:30 on November 8th and pertains to assessing Clinical Skills of IMGs. Here is the brochure.
I had the opportunity to attend a workshop for Tutoring PBL (problem based learning) groups. The process initially seemed quite formal and rigid. I had difficulty understanding how learners could possibly enjoy this method of learning. All doubts were quickly resolved. The group featured a "fishbowl" session involving six students who were unfamiliar with PBL sessions.
