Student Assignment Submissions in Blackboard 6 - You Asked...

Q. In WebCT 4, I used to be able to download all my student assignment submissions at one time to my computer so I could review them. They would download as a zip file that contained each students' assignment submissions as a separate, identifiable folder. I can't seem to find where this functionality is in Blackboard 6.

A. It is NOT surprising that you might not be able to easily find this functionality, as where it lives has changed SIGNIFICANTLY!

  1. Select the Teach tab

  2. Select Assignment Drop Box from the Instructor Tools pane

  3. Select the particular tab view you want in the Assignment Drop Box (ie, Submitted vs Not Submitted, etc)

  4. Select your View By: preference (this is a pulldown menu on the top right side, by default it is set to "All Assignments"

  5. Use the checkboxes to the left of the listed assignments to select the ones you want to review. If you want ALL of the listed assignments, click the checkbox at the very top of the list, to the left of the "Title" header
NOTE: You may need to change your paging options (at the bottom of the window) to show ALL the assignments if they aren't all listed on your first page

  6. (Here's the not too obvious bit) Click the Create Printable View button at the bottom of the list of assignments.

  7. Once you have done that, it will create a printable view of the assignments you selected, including grades, comments and attachment names

  8. At the bottom of the listing of the printable assignments, there is a button titled "Save to File". Clicking this button will save all those "printable views" into a zip file, which you can then download.

  9. Once you download and extract the zip file, you will be left with a folder filled with folders titled with Assignment Name, student name and a number.
