Dear Friends

This year's summer get-together is scheduled to be held on August 09th,
2008 at Blackstrap National Park, Saskatchewan. Please mark your calendar to
attend this fun filled event for you/your kids. We'll give you more
details such as driving direction, programme schedules and items to bring in a
couple of weeks. In the mean time, we'll make a phone call to you
personally to inform what food item/items you are supposed to bring for
the event. If you are planning to invite your friends, please let us know
how many in advance for head counts.

Two things are here in advance to remember;

1. There is $7.00 admission fee for your vehicle for the day

2. Kids can swim in the lake. But it is your sole responsibility
to take care of your kid's safety.

We cordially invite you to participate in the Sinhala & Tamil New Year Party 2008 of Saskatoon Sri Lanka Community.

Date: Saturday 26th April 2008
Venue: The Albert Community Centre, 610 Clarence Ave.S. Saskatoon

The program includes many fun filled items/activities including traditional ‘avurudu’ games. We are happy to inform you some of them.

For children:
· Fancy dress contest (Vikata endum tharagaya) - Please be ready and train your kids to do a short performance (approximately 1 minute) relevant to their fancy dress costumes.
· Bun eating race (banis kema)
· Blowing balloons (Ballum pimbeema)
· Sack race (goani race)
· Tug of war (kamba adeema)
· Piñata (kana muttiya bideema)
For adults

· Threading the needle (indhi kattata noola demeema)

We are going to offer you a stage to show your talents in this New Year Party!!!
We kindly invite you to perform and show your talents in this event. This performance could be a song, music, dance or any creative performance in Sinhala, Tamil or English. It could also be an individual, a couple or a group performance (kids or adults).

If you need music for your performance, please let us know. We will arrange practice sessions with our music master.

Even though you may not need music for your performance, we kindly encourage you to let us know the type of act that you intend to perform in advance to allocate a suitable time for yours in the party-program.

A couple has already agreed to perform/sing a song. We take this opportunity to thank and admire them here for their commitment.

Other than the above performances, we will have customary kid songs (2) and adult song (1 or 2).
