Email Fraud: IMPORTANT NOTICE!!! ICT Help Desk
Please be aware of the following (and similar) email frauds on the Internet claiming to be from official sources at the university.
Although this email may look official, the real ICT Help Desk (or any other computer resource on campus) will never ask for your username or password; and you should always be suspect of any link provided in an email. If you receive this email or one similar, please delete it immediately.
If you still have concerns over your account after deleting the email, contact the ICT Help Desk at 966-4717.
Begin Fraudulent Email:
Your U of S Email account has been reported for numerous spams
Activities from a foreign ip recently. As a result you may not be
able to receive or send new mail. However, you might not be the one
promoting this Spam, as your e-mail account might have been
compromised. To protect your account from sending spam mails, You are
to confirm your true ownership of this account, Kindly CLICK HERE
fill the form and login again.
Failure to do this will violate the ICT Policies.This will render
your account inactive. NOTE!!: You will be sent a password reset
message in next seven (7) working days after undergoing this process
for Security reasons. The office of Information Security will keep
this updated if information should change, but we encourage all users
to run their updates after the expected release of this patch.

Do NOT follow the link inside the email, it will take you to a fraudulant site where you will be coerced into giving up your login credentials or where you will become infected with a virus. Delete the email immediately.

You may recieve an email that will say: Warning!!! All usask Account owners who fail to update his/her account on receiving this notification will lose his/her account in due time. DO NOT RESPOND!
Credit Card Breach
Canadians who have travelled to the US or who may have made credit card purchases at US businesses are advised to keep a close watch on their credit card statements as Heartland Payment Systems recently announced that they found signs of an intrusion into their computer systems.

Patch for IE Vulnerability Available
Microsoft has released a patch for the Internet Explorer vulnerability which was identified on Tuesday. Please visit Microsoft to download the patch for your version of Windows and Internet Explorer immediately.
Critical Internet Explorer Vulnerability Identified
Microsoft is reporting that tens of thousands of individuals have already been infected by viruses as caused by a critical flaw in their Internet Explorer web browser. There is no patch available at this time....

Email Scam Warning - Confirm U of S Webmail
Please note, the following email is a fraud. The University of Saskatchewan will never request your password. Do not EVER provide this information to anyone. If you receive this or similar emails, delete them immediately!
Greeting Card - Virus Warning
Many greeting card messages sent via email are simply a ploy to get users to either download and install an infected computer file or to visit a site where the user will receive a virus.
UPS Package - Virus Warning
Please be aware of a virus that has been making rounds throughout campus. It comes as an email stating that there has been some problem with a package shipped through UPS and that you should view the attached file.
Disturbing Email Spam
Users should be aware of the following email and ones like it which appear to be personalized and of a disturbing nature. These emails are an attempt to frustrate or worry you so that you will follow the included link and be taken to a site that may attempt to install a virus onto your system. Please do not follow the included link and delete the email immediately.
