All photos must have been taken in the past two years and represent this year’s theme: Colours of the Grainbow.feature_prairiewheat_en.jpg

It could be lakes of blue flax, a cascade of golden wheat, or a solitary red barn on a winter white prairie– whatever occurs to your creative eye. Show us the vibrant colours that paint a picture of western Canadian agriculture.

A panel of judges will select 17 photos for the 2008-09 crop year calendar. The grand-prize winner will receive a digital camera. All other winners will receive photography shop gift cards.

Each photographer may enter up to five photographs.

Please include negatives and information about the photograph, such as when and where it was taken and any other details of interest.

You must obtain permission from the subjects of photographs and by submitting the photos you are confirming that consent has been received. When the subjects are children, parental consent is required.

Your phone number and mailing address must be included for your entry to be considered. Entries must be received on or before April 30, 2008. E-mail entries will not be accepted.

Mail photos or CDs to:

CWB 2008-09 Calendar Photo Contest, Corporate Communications, PO Box 816, Station Main, Winnipeg, Manitoba, R3C 2P5.

If you would like your photos returned, please include a self-addressed, stamped envelope of sufficient size and postage.

Tips for digital photos:

    * Use a 3.2 or higher mega-pixel camera. The setting for most 3.2 mega-pixel cameras should be on HQ (highest quality). The resolution must be high enough to allow quality prints at a minimum of 300 DPI when reduced at a size of 10 by 13.5 inches.
* Do not use Photoshop or other photographic software tools to retouch your photos, as this often shows up badly on reproductions of larger-sized high resolution pictures.
* Burn your photos to a labelled CD and use a padded mailing envelope. Please send hard-copy prints of your photo entries along with the CD. CDs will not be returned. Please include a note with information about the photo and its subject.
