ICPSR Summer Program in Quantitative Methods

ICPSR Summer Program in Quantitative Methods

Each summer the Inter-university consortium for Political and Social Research (ICPSR) holds a special summer school at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, MI. The courses offered range from one week to multi-week sessions, and have an excellent reputation.

The University of Saskatchewan has access to all the ICPSR data archives for analysis; as well, the U of S is eligible for substantially discounted member rates to the summer school, and possible subsidies.

To learn more about this year’s courses, location, content, and application requirements, please consult the ICPSR web site:

http://www.icpsr.umich.edu/sumprog/

How does the subsidy program work, and how do I apply?

U of S libraries joined ICPSR with a group of western university libraries (COPPUL) and together, we receive a grant from which are created three subsidies. If there are fewer than three nominees for the subsidies, the grant is divided amongst those who are nominated to attend.

Students, staff or faculty should apply directly to ICPSR for admission to the summer program using the online form.

http://www.icpsr.umich.edu/sumprog/application.html

To apply for a subsidy, print a copy of the online form before sending it to ICPSR and include it with a covering memo listing your research interests or applicability of a particular course to your work/study.

This information should be returned c/o Rob Alary or Winnie Smit, Data & GIS Library Services, Room 228, Murray Library, no later than Friday April 13, 2007.

Who is eligible to apply?

In previous years, preferential allocation of subsidies has been given in the following order:
• Students
• Data library / services staff
• Faculty
