Summer Employment Opportunity Saskatoon and Regina
In support of our Employment Equity Program, the Saskatchewan Workers’ Compensation Board (WCB) is offering Building the Future bursary opportunities worth approximately $13,000 each.
The successful candidates will be offered four-month paid work terms with a grant of an additional $1,000.00 bursary to be used toward the student’s 2012 – 2013 education costs. These opportunities are open to full-time students of Aboriginal ancestry or students with a disability.
The four available bursary positions are as follows:
BURSARY #1, #2, #3 – Payment Specialists (2 positions in Regina and 1 in Saskatoon) – Working with our Case Management Team, the successful student will have the opportunity to gain an understanding of WCB processes while calculating replacement earnings for injured workers as well as expenses. Candidates will pass a math assessment and complete a keyboarding test at a minimum of 35 wpm net. Applicants must have completed two full years of post-secondary classes and be enrolled in Business Administration/Commerce, Health Care, Education, Human Justice, or one of the Social Sciences.
BURSARY #4 – Prevention Assistant (1 position in Regina) – Working with our Prevention Team, the successful student will have the opportunity to work directly with stakeholders in order to promote best practices and provide education and awareness to employers and the public on initiatives as they relate to workplace injury prevention. The person would be required to travel, work with diverse groups, prepare training materials and operate a laptop and computer projector. The person must have a valid Saskatchewan Drivers’ license and be enrolled in the Kinesiology or Education program.
Criteria for the bursaries include:
• Passing all classes and maintaining an average of 60% or better;
• Returning to full-time studies in the 2012-2013 school year;
• Must be a student with a disability or a student of Aboriginal ancestry. The student will need to provide documentation verifying eligibility and complete a confidential Workforce Profile identifying they are a member of one of the designated equity groups.
Salary: $19.32/hour or $1,352.68 bi-weekly.
