Teachers Without Borders Looking for New Members/Volunteers

On September 15, 2009, join Teachers Without Borders - University of Saskatchewan (TWB - U of S) by "Coming Together for Education." University students will help by pushing two giant pieces of the “education puzzle” across the University of Saskatchewan campus. These pieces will be 200 feet apart, and we are inviting you to push and help us bring them together. Small donations will be accepted. Proceeds raised at the event are being used to improve educational programming for students in Saskatoon and area schools.

TWB - U of S works in the Saskatoon region to bring communities together to improve the educational opportunities for students. In turn, the symbolic “coming together” of the TWB sign at the U of S represents Saskatoon citizens coming together for the students in their area.

Please email twb.uofs@gmail.com or call 220-9616 if you are interested in taking your participation one step further by volunteering with us between 10:00 am and 2:00 pm on September 15th - This is a great opportunity to add some volunteering to your resume or portfolio as well as network with professors and students in the college!

We are holding an info session for those interested, September 9 at 6:00pm in the Education Student Lounge.

College of Medicine - Run for Charity

Hi everyone,

I just wanted to let you know that once again the Student Medical Society of Saskatchewan is putting on its annual Miles for Smiles 5 Km Run or Walk, in support of the Children's Health and Hospital Foundation of Saskatchewan, on September 13 in Rotary Park. The Children’s Hospital Foundation of Saskatchewan is a provincial charity raising awareness and funds solely for pediatric medical research, equipment, patient care services, and the upcoming provincial Children’s Hospital. They are 100% dedicated to kids and their hospital. All funds raised stay in Saskatchewan to help sick and injured children and their families. Last year our local campaign raised approximately $6 000, however, we want the campaign to be more successful each year and this can only be accomplished with the continued support of our community and participants. This year we are really looking to encourage the support from ALL U of S students in many different colleges. Registration forms will be available on August 27 from the Undergraduate Medical Office Health Sciences Building A204. Deadline for registration and donations is Sept. 4, 2009.

So make sure to mark Sept 13 on your calendars and hope to see you there!!

Thanks,

Tanner Gurney-Dunlop
Internal Vice President
