Discussing Integrity Issues: Facebook Study Groups?

Academic integrity issues are a daily part of our lives in academia, whether students, staff, or faculty. While the office of the University Secretary provides information, policies, and resources on Academic Integrity, it might seem that the related issues are not always black and white (especially in a remix culture that exists in technology-based environment). Further, seldom do we have an opportunity to discuss these issues in an environment where we don't fear judgment, suspicion, and/or reprisal. The purpose of this blog is to create an environment where it is safe to discuss academic integrity issues--where you can voice your opinion, engage in debate, and stand up for yours and the university's academic integrity. Facebook Study Groups?

In the late winter of 2008, CBC reported on a story about a Ryerson student who was accused of academic dishonesty because he was the administrator of a Facebook study group (read the story here).

Do you think the accusation was fair? At what point does academic peer support cross the line into the realm of academic dishonesty?
