On Monday, November 16, the Gabriel Dumont Institute, Parks Canada, and Friends of Batoche, in collaboration with SUNTEP (Saskatchewan Urban Native Teacher Education Program) of Saskatoon, are hosting a Louis Riel Day to honour the Métis hero.

SUNTEP and Gabriel Dumont College Student Representative Council are also holding a Louis Riel Day Commemoration on Tuesday, November 17, 2009 from 2:00pm to 4:00pm. The event will be held at the University of Saskatchewan in the Education Student's Lounge, located in the College of Education Building. Special guest Christie Belcourt, will be sharing her art and discussing past and present Métis art. Art and information displays, jigging, singing, poetry, refreshments, and deserts will all be a part of the commemoration, recognition, and education of Métis culture and history.
