B.C. Opens First Public Aboriginal Themed Public School
Carney Hill School, located in downtown Prince George B.C., has an Aboriginal student population that averages 88%. The school suffers from low student attendance and high drop-out rates. So, in September the school will reopen with a new First Nations name and a new mandate. Half the new faculty will be of Aboriginal ancestry and native elders will be asked to advise students.
