Inuit Owned Airline Gets Oil Sands Contract
Canadian North has signed a contract to fly hundreds of construction workers to and from the Kearl oil sands project in northern Alberta, giving a much needed lift to the Aboriginal owned airline. The airline is owned by NorTerra Inc., a holding company jointly owned by Inuvik, NWT based Inuvialuit Development Corp. and Nunasi Corp. of Iqaluit, Nunavut. About one-third of its 400 employees are aboriginal.
