AFN To Elect New National Chief Today

The Assembly of First Nations (AFN) is scheduled to begin the process to elect a new National Chief for a three year term. There are 8 candidates competing for the position. In the previous contest in 2009 it took 9 ballots and 23 hours to select the current National Chief, Shawn Atleo who is running for reelection.
