Dakota Whitecap/Government of Canada MOU
This past weekend a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was signed between the Whitecap Dakota First Nation and the Government of Canada recognizing the longstanding relationship between the two parties. The agreement commits the government to initiating further discussions with the First Nation to potentially resolve the land issue which was based on exclusion from the previous treaty agreements because they were considered American at the time.
