I am not ready for internship.
Okay, so all you lucky folks.. you get two entries in one day!.. I'm packing up my books and work from this semester. And I have just realized that I am not ready for internship!
Mood: cleaning
The math course I took to prepare us Math teachers for teaching the young minds has not done anything to help me to teach math. I've learned nothing in this class but managed to get a decent mark. I've learned that there are many issues related to math education but I have learned nothing about teaching the subject. The college expects me to go into a school this fall and be ready to teach. I hardly agree. I don't know if I should go buy Math 10, 20, 30 curriculum guides, so I at least have a clue of what to teach. But our lovely prof told us that the new curriculum is soon coming to Saskatchewan. So what do I do in the mean time than? I find it frustrating that we're expected on our internship to whip out the tools and skills we have grasped this year. The thing is my toolbelt is a bit light on the tool aspect. Is there a standard to follow? Lesson plan formats? I need structure or I'll go crazy. I can't just come up with a witty activity to do. Plus, my other teaching area comp sci didn't even have a class to offer advice on how to teach computer science. So I'm screwed there also. I can't even rant to the college because no one will listen. It's not like I was the only one in the Math class that didn't think like this. I just ask to those who will be interning, are you ready? Because sadly I am far from that.
