Feedly as a replacement for Google Reader

With the imminent demise of Google Reader, you may be wondering, what now?

Feedly is an excellent replacement for Google Reader. When you initially set up your account, you are prompted to connect to Google Reader. Upon entering your Google account information your feeds are automatically transferred into Feedly, folders and all! It works best in Firefox, for all of you IE fans.

Three things that I really like about Feedly:
- there is a quick link for Feedly on your browser, beside the home icon
- the magazine display looks really nice
- it was super easy to transfer all of my feeds!

Confused about Copyright?

Confused about copyright? The University offers several resources to help you with the complexities of copyright!
The University’s Copyright office (http://www.usask.ca/copyright/) is an excellent resource for all things copyright. This office has a detailed web site which includes FAQs, information for instructors, creators, etc. The Copyright office is also currently offering ongoing information sessions for the campus community.

You can also consult the University Library’s Copyright web site (http://libguides.usask.ca/copyright) for copyright information as it pertains to specific Library services, such as linking to articles, interlibrary loan, reserves, etc.
The University Library recently implemented its new Usage Rights Database which assists our users with identifying important license information as it relates to the use of our electronic resources. The usage rights for specific electronic resources now appear on the Library’s Find it! availability screen, as shown in the following example: http://bit.ly/O73ufh

When searching for a specific e-journal title, you can see what is, and is not, permitted to use for the purpose of e-reserves , direct linking, or inclusion in coursepacks and course management systems, like Blackboard. You can view a short demo video on this new service on the Library’s Copyright web site: http://libguides.usask.ca/copyright
