PAWS Groups--Join or Start One Today!

Although PAWS Groups aren't new (PAWS has had groups functionality since the portal was launched in 2004) new groups are created each week by members of the University community. The groups area in PAWS is a convenient place for classes, study groups, interest groups, committees, departments, units, and clubs to connect and share information. Tools inside PAWS Groups allow members to

- share files, links and photos;
- communicate with others via e-mail, announcements, a message board and chat area;
- share a common calendar;
- and more.

Some PAWS groups have restricted membership (you must obtain permission to join them based on your role--for example, registration in a particular class or membership on a committee), but many others are open to anyone with access to PAWS. Topics of the well-over-100 PAWS Groups range widely--there are groups for squash players, vegetarians, research teams, parents, students from various cultural backgrounds, movie lovers, student societies, discipline-specific faculty... the list goes on.

If you've never visited PAWS Groups, or simply haven't checked the Groups Index for new groups recently, click on the Groups icon at the top right of your screen. What's New in PAWS will also regularly post notices of new public groups. Consider joining a group or starting your own today!

News Tab--Your Source U of S and External News

Alongside the Home, Academics, Campus Life and other tabs in PAWS you'll find a new tab called News. If you're reading this blog entry through the What's New in PAWS channel in PAWS rather than right in the blog itself at http://blogs.usask.ca/, chances are you've already found it! Besides the What's New in PAWS channel, the News tab contains channels that will connect you to other internal and external new sources such as The Sheaf, On Campus News, CBC.ca and Reuters. We've pre-selected these channels for the news tabs, but, as always, you are welcome to make PAWS your own space. Remove news channels that you don't want by clicking the X at the top right corner of the channel. Add your prefered news sources, such as Yahoo News Top Stories or Tech News from the Campus Computer Store by clicking the content/layout link at the top left of your PAWS window. So, what's new in PAWS? News!
