Closing the Gap in a Generation: Health Equity through Action

WHOReport.bmpThe World Health Organization released their 256 page report, Gap in a Generation: Health Equity through Action on the Social Determinants of Healthtoday, the product of a 3 year investigation by various policy makers.
The report calls for major change through action to close the gap between rich and poor within a generation. The report makes three overall reccommendations to close this gap:

1) Improve daily living conditions, including the circumstances in which people are born, grow, live, work and age.
2) Tackle the inequitable distribution of power, money and resources – the structural drivers of those conditions – globally, nationally and locally.
3) Measure and understand the problem and assess the impact of action.
