HUSKIES REVIEW GETTING UNDERWAY

The College of Kinesiology has struck an internal working group and has named three external reviewers to take an in-depth look at the Huskie Athletics.

The review, announced by President Peter MacKinnon in September, now has terms of reference and external reviewers named to visit campus this spring and offer their expert opinions as the U of S determines the future of its athletics program.

The College of Kinesiology website says a working group in the college will prepare a self-study on Huskie Athletics programs followed by a visit March 27-29 by three external reviewers. Their report is due by the end of April.

The review’s terms of reference set out an extensive inquiry into the goals, resources, operations and effectiveness of the athletics program.

The three external reviewers being brought in are:

J. Dru Marshall, Associate Dean Academic in the University of Alberta’s Faculty of Physical Education & Recreation.

Ken W.D. Shields, Instructor at the National Coaching Institute in Victoria, B.C.

Darwin M. Semotiuk, Professor in the University of Western Ontario’s School of Kinesiology.
