DEGREE IN AGRIBUSINESS ESTABLISHED

University Council has approved a new undergraduate degree program in Agribusiness, to be offered by the College of Agriculture starting in September.

The Bachelor of Science in Agribusiness (B.Sc.Agbus.) was established in response to student and employer demand for a program that meets changing conditions in the agricultural industry, says Bob Tyler, Associate Dean Academic, College of Agriculture.

This is the first new degree established in the College in more than 90 years.

The program is designed to prepare students to work at the the point where agricultural science and business overlap. They will learn about the structure and organization of the agri-food sector and will acquire business skills relating to farm inputs, primary production, processing, transportation and marketing.

The new degree program doesn’t replace any College programs. It will be offered in addition to current programs in Agricultural Economics.
