TWO HUSKIES SELECTED IN CFL COLLEGE DRAFT

Offensive lineman Chris Sutherland was selected 28th overall by the Hamilton Tiger-Cats and runningback David Stevens was selected 36th overall by the Winnipeg Blue Bombers.

The Canadian Football League's 2006 Canadian College Draft was held on April 20.

Fourth-year Huskie Chris Sutherland was selected by the Hamilton Tiger-Cats as the third pick in fourth round. He has been the anchor of the Huskie O-line for the last two seasons, as a two-time Canada West All-Star and CIS All-Canadian. The 6’5, 310-lb Saskatoon-native is studying in the College of Arts & Science, majoring in economics.

Fifth-year tailback, David Stevens was selected by the Winnipeg Blue Bombers as the second pick in the fifth round. An offensive captain, he led Canada West and finished second in rushing yards. Stevens was the only tailback in the country to crack 150 yards in every league game this season, and also did this in three of four playoff games. At the 2005 Vanier Cup, he scored all three of the Huskies touchdowns, including an 85-yard rushing TD.

In the last 10 years, 15 Huskies have been drafted to the CFL.
