Why they stay, why they go
The University has spent almost two years looking at who attends the U of S, who does well, and who is likely to leave early, the result being a major study on retention and attrition.
Using a number of methods – mining data from the student information system, personal interviews, focus groups and surveys – officials with Student and Enrolment Services Division as well as research analysts were able to draw a pretty clear portrait of the kinds of students who are most likely to succeed (those to transfer between colleges), those who might struggle (those who take a break between high school and university), and those who ‘stop out’ rather than drop out.
On Campus News carried extensive coverage of the presentation of these survey results. To read more, go to Retention Study.
