Engineering Innovation
Engineering students Rylan Grant, Herb Mueller and Cory Anderson took third place is a recent national contest designed to give individuals and teams opportunities to engage in significant information and communication technology projects.
The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) Canada TELUS Innovation Award contest in Edmonton in mid-September saw the U of S students present their EE495 project titled RF Positioning System, which earned them the $2,000 prize. Each project is expected to have a strong design or research component that is innovative, and offers the possibility of application in industry.
The U of S students’ project centres on providing an indoor positioning system that offers some of the same advantages as GPS offers outdoors.
