Funds for Engineering Students
At a Nov. 29 luncheon, two College of Engineering students received scholarship and business capital funds from the Saskatchewan Rotary Youth Foundation's My Future is Here (MyFiH) initiative, and from the Saskatchewan Research Council (SRC).
Elise Normand (Engineering Physics) and Rylan Grant (Electrical Engineering) each received a $5,000 scholarship from the SRC. The SRC awards two scholarships from the Technology-in-Action (TIA) fund each year. The funds support ventures showing innovation, adaptability and practicality, and are designed to address the immediate needs of small and medium-sized businesses, farmers, rural communities and natural resource development.
Grant was the keynote speaker at the luncheon, where he profiled his business venture DeltaPoint Wireless. The funding award is the third this year for Rylan and his partner Herbert Mueller. They received top prizes from Saskatoon-based Venture Forward, and Progress 2 Capital from the Regina Regional Economic Authority.
