The LIbrary's Most Popular Items

The most requested items in the U of S libraries include several books about residential schools, CD collections of Motown music, journals about beer, and even the newest Harry Potter novel, but electronic books are quickly becoming some of the most viewed material in the catalogue.

According to Janet Bangma, acting associate dean of client services, there are well over 1,000,000 print books in the university library system and another 300,000 non-book items, including maps, music, data files and visual material. This number does not, however, include electronic books, and according to Bangma, this is the way many library users prefer their material nowadays.

“The advantage to e-books is people can get access 24-seven,” said Bangma. “And if you're doing research, it's a little easier to use for searching.”
