Q & A with Coach Towriss
For the first time in the history of the football program at the University of Saskatchewan, the Huskies will play all four of their regular season home games on Friday nights. On Campus News sat down with head coach Brian Towriss to ask him what it means to the team to play under the Friday night lights.

OCN: What does “Friday Night Lights” mean to you?
BT: The lights were only added to the stadium a couple years ago, so for the last two years we’ve had the opportunity to play Friday night games. We opened the season two years ago on a Friday night. It was 27 degrees, no wind at kickoff and the fans were great. It was just a great college football atmosphere. It was great for the players and the fans alike. For us, Friday night lights are about the atmosphere. It’s exciting for the players. It’s exciting for the fans.
OCN: So what creates that atmosphere in a night game compared to a day game?
BT: I don’t know. You’d have to ask the fans. It just gives people an opportunity to go straight from work to a restaurant or to the stadium to tailgate. A lot of our fans get into Saturdays and they get running around with their kids or they caught up into other things, so Friday nights have translated into a better and more enthusiastic crowd.
