The countdown has started to the official 100th birthday of the University of Saskatchewan, and plans are taking shape for activities that should appeal to everyone from students to retirees, according to the chair of the University’s centennial committee.

With over 5000 delegates expected to visit campus between May 26 and June 2 for Congress 2007, getting the details right is very, very important.

A deal this great only comes along once every 100 years!

In a special centennial series, On Campus News is profiling buildings on campus by looking at their history, design and special features, all with the hope of encouraging people to looking more closely at campus.

It’s green, white and gold. It stands about 2.5 feet tall and it will soon be appearing out of the ground around campus and elsewhere.

On January 1, the University of Saskatchewan marked the start of its 100th year. It will be a time of reflection on the past, recognition of the present and anticipation of the future.

The U of S is preparing to celebrate its 100th anniversary in 2007, and highly visible throughout the year will be these three words: Engage, Enlighten, Explore.
