Survey System Available
The survey system is now operational again.
The hard drive for the survey application server crashed sometime on Saturday April 11 2009. The survey system has been unavailable since then. ITS had to replace the drive and restore the survey system. This was completed noon on April 13, 2009.
Only the application server was damaged, not the database. There was no loss to survey data. The only problems were that during this time people were unable to access the survey tool to take surveys.
In the last few weeks ITS has been in the process of moving the survey application to a new more reliable application server. The coding changes have been tested on our test servers and we are in the process of setting up a new production server. We intended to switch over to this new production server between the terms, after the current round of elections and course evaluations is finished. Unfortunately, this disk failure happened a couple weeks before the new system was to go into service.
ITS apologises for any problems this may have caused.
