Happy Father's Day!
So the reason I have not written a blog in a few days is because a) nothing super exciting happened in the past few days and b) I am really into the Black Dagger Brotherhood series. Yes, I know, I am a book worm. But on nights when you have time to yourself and there is really not much else to do, it’s a good way to kill some time.
So on Friday, Nicole and I were on record duty again. We finally got the records on people with HIV in the area, as well as the people who have tested for HIV in the past year. Analyzing the records pretty much took all morning, and then after lunch our group had a meeting during which we told them the results, and we finished up some other parts of our write-up. Of course while we analyzed records all day, Nicole and I sat outside, soaking up the sun yet again. That is one thing we can say we DO NOT lack here – Vitamin D! :) After our group meeting, we didn’t really have anything else to do, so the three Canadian girls laid out on the grass and just hung out, with our Ipods blaring and reading some good books! It was during this time that we decided we would have a wine night and watch a couple of episodes of Game of Thrones. So that was exactly what we did. We walked down to the closest bar, bought 2 bottles of wine – a red and a white and headed back to have some quality time with nothing but us, the wine, and Game of Thrones! I must say, I think it was exactly what the 3 of us needed!
The next morning we decided that we were going to work out (Christy brought work out videos with her!) and then head to the King Fisher Lodge, with its infinity pool, good food and alcoholic beverages for the day. Luckily, it was a beautiful day out! Perfect for swimming and sun tanning. The three of us boda’d to the Lodge, and set up camp pool-side, and did not move for a good six hours. It was absolutely heavenly! We all had banana daiquiris and a few pineapple rums and swam and got our tan on! I cannot think of a better day thus far! I can also say that I am no longer pasty white, and have a good glow going! :) I will try and post a picture of the resort, as it is beautiful and overlooks the Queen Elizabeth National Park. Sadly though, we could not see any animals from the resort. :( However we will when we go on our safari, so I am pretty pumped about that! When we got back to our hostel from the resort, all of us were sunburnt and exhausted, so we ate supper, and then headed to our rooms to relax some more and read our books. It seems all three of us have become addicted to our respective series. We probably look like such nerds! Haha
Today was honestly such a chill day. Some of the students headed to church services, while the rest of us stayed back to enjoy our free time. I spent my day doing laundry, reading my book, and catching up on some sleep. Although I did get to sleep in till 8 am this morning which is a new record! Also, I have realized I have greatly undervalued the awesomeness that is PEANUT BUTTER! I had run out of peanut butter last week, and had not realized how much I relied on it in the morning with our bread until I got a new jar today! It is heavenly! It can literally be put on anything and make it taste amazing! Bread, apples, crackers, even just by itself as it’s dug out with my finger! Also, it is probably the only protein I usually get in a day, so that is also another plus.
But that is basically all I have to write about this weekend, I apologize for the boring entries, but perhaps tomorrow will be more exciting!
Also! I would like to give a big shout-out to my wonderful father! Thanks for being so supportive and amazing so far! Love ya and Miss you! :)
Talk to y’all later! :)
