Academic Integrity Awareness Week (Oct 3-7)

True or False: academic integrity is an important part of being a successful student at the University of Saskatchewan? True!

Cheating and plagiarism have no place at university. This is why during Academic Integrity Awareness Week (October 3-7), the USSU will be in the Arts Tunnel everyday from 11:30 a.m.-1p.m. raising awareness about how to avoid academic dishonesty by playing GAMES and giving out PRIZES to lucky students who want to learn about this important issue.

Oh did we mention that there will also be delicious PIZZA? MMMMMMMMMMM it's never been easier or more fun to learn about academic integrity so be sure to check it out!

Take Back the Night Sept 22

Take Back the Night is an international movement designed to raise awareness about violence against women and to support the well-being of those who have been and are in abusive situations.

The Saskatoon Take Back The Night march is sponsored annually by the Saskatoon Women's Community Coalition, of which the USSU Women's Centre and other community organization's are members.

This year, the march will start at the River Landing Amphitheatre on September 22, 2011. We're asking everyone to gather at 6:45pm for a 7:00pm start time for the march. The march will finish at the White Buffalo Youth Lodge where we will have some wonderful live music and refreshments.

A Saskatoon Transit bus will be transporting attendees from on campus at the University at 6:30pm, and then following the march for attendees with any mobility issues.
Please join us and help spread the word by inviting your friends! Don't forget your noise maker and/or poster!!

U-Pass Exemption Deadline

The last day to apply for Term 1 U-Pass exemptions is September 20, 2011. Completed forms are due no later than 4:30 p.m. Exemption forms for Term 1 can be submitted for approval. Exemption forms may be submitted to the USSU Main Office located next to the Information Centre in Upper Place Riel.

Member of Student Council By Election

If you want to get involved in student politics, now is your chance. The time is ripe for action, the air is thick with anticipation over who the next Member of Student Council will be for the following colleges:

2 Positions for the College of Arts & Science

1 Position for the College of Nursing

1 Position for the Edwards School of Business

The duties and responsibilities accorded with the positions are available here.

In order to participate in the By-election as a candidate you must fill out a Nomination Form or pick one up from the USSU Reception Desk, on the main floor of Place Riel. 

Completed forms are due back at the USSU Reception Desk by September 19 at 4:30 P.M.

The Campaign Period will be September 19-23.

The Election will be done via PAWS on September 22 & 23.

The USSU Centres Open House

The USSU Centres Open House on September 12-16 is a showcase of the five Student Centres operated by the USSU. These Centres: Women's Centre, Pride Centre, Safewalk and Student Crew, Food Centre, and Help Centre, are all student run and operated mainly by volunteers. Most all of the Centres have moved to new offices and in an effort to showcase the new spaces the Centres are having an open house. The Centres will be handing out freebies during that week and telling people about their roles on campus and the services they provide.

You can visit the Food, Pride and Women's Centres on the main floor of the Memorial Union Building ( look for the Louis' awning), the Help centre is located in the tunnel and Safewalk/Student Crew in Lower Place Riel by the tunnel entrance.

The seminar presentation at Browsers Cafe on the price of textbooks and the changing textbook market has been postponed due to unforeseen circumstances. A new date for the seminar will be announced as soon as possible.
