2013-14 Campus Group Ratification

The Campus Group ratification application is now available online. All groups must complete the application for the 2013-2014 academic year to be eligible for benefits from the USSU. Groups are encouraged to ratify (or re-ratify) early so they can promote their events and recruit new members in September during Welcome Week and Campus Club Week.

U-Pass Exemption Reminder

May 9, 2013 is the last day to apply for exemptions for students enrolled in Spring Term, Quarter 1, Quarter 2 (6 credit) and/or Quarter 1 (3 credit) classes. Completed forms are due no later than 4:30 p.m. Exemption forms are available online and can be submitted for approval.

Students in one or more of the following categories will be eligible for exemption: those living outside the city limits, those enrolled exclusively in distance education courses, those living in on-campus housing (Ogle Hall, Voyageur Place Residence, Lutheran Theological Seminary and St. Andrew's), or those unable to ride the bus due to a disability.

Exemption forms may be submitted to the USSU Main Office located next to the Information Centre in Upper Place Riel.

U-Pass Reminder

Effective May 1, 2013 the Term 2 U-Pass will expire. Students enrolled in Spring Term classes are eligible to pick up their Spring U-Pass at the Information Centre in Place Riel.

If you are not taking Spring Term classes, you may purchase regular bus passes for the summer at Macs in lower Place Riel.

Term 2 U-Pass stickers are deactivated at the end of the day. Spring Term U-Pass will be required effective May 1, 2013.

SPRING TERM U-PASS (QUARTER 1 & 2)

April 23, 2013
Spring Term U-Pass stickers are available. Stickers can be picked up or reactivated at the Information Centre in Upper Place Riel. To avoid line ups students should pick up or reactivate their sticker prior to May 8, 2013.  

* If you received a U-Pass sticker in the past you will be required to reactivate the sticker at the Information Centre in Upper Place Riel.  

April 23, 2013

May 1, 2013 
Spring Term U-Pass stickers are activated. If you have received or reactivated your U-Pass sticker for the 2013 Spring Term you will be able to access City Transit with your U-Pass. Stickers can be picked up or reactivated at the Information Centre in Upper Place Riel.

USSU 2013 General Election Results

The University of Saskatchewan Students' Union (USSU), under the supervision of the Chief Returning Officer Zena Charowsky, announced the results of its 2013 Executive Elections. Voter turnout was 3875 of 17,600 representing 22% of undergraduate students.

Transit Summer Route Schedule

On April 28, 2013, Saskatoon Transit will introduce its Summer Route Schedule.

Each year during the post-secondary school term, Saskatoon Transit typically adds additional routes to support the higher number of transit users traveling to and from the University of Saskatchewan.
These support routes are being removed during the summer months and service will resume September 1, 2013.

Vote in the USSU General Elections March 27 & 28

The University of Saskatchewan Students' Union (USSU) is holding a General Election for Executive positions, Senate and Members of Student Council. Voting begins at 9:00 a.m. on Wednesday March 27 and ends at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday March 28, 2013. Results will be announced at 4:30 p.m. in Place Riel.

Vote by logging in to PAWS at https://paws.usask.ca and clicking on the “VOTE” tab (alongside your Home, Academics, Campus Life and other tabs). You will need your Network Services ID (NSID) and password to access your ballot. If you don’t know your NSID or cannot log in to PAWS, please visit the Help Desk in Arts, Room 70.

Menstrual Product Drive

Newspapers, rags, balled up yarn and toilet paper are just a few examples of items that women use to absorb their menstrual flow when they cannot afford conventional products.

The USSU Women's Centre is holding a Menstrual Product Drive February 25 - March 1 in the Arts Tunnel from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Donate feminine products such as pads, tampons, menstrual cups, and other personal hygiene products. We will also be accepting cash donations to purchase menstrual products. All donations go directly to the Saskatoon Food Bank.

Speed Friending 3, March 5

Meeting new people in university can be a challenge so why not try Speed Friending!

Speed Friending is an easy and fun way to meet new people in university. Similar to speed dating but without the quest for love, you sit chat with a stranger for five minutes then move on to the next stranger.

The hope is that you will connect with fellow students (and possibly staff/faculty) and start to feel like you know more people or at least recognize them. It's open to all and will be a safe and positive space for all.
