Student Affairs Update

Hey there,

I hope that finals are treating you well; or rather, you are treating yourselves well and not procrastinating on studying. Now, if only I could take my own advice. In my position I am only able to take a maximum of four classes for the year. It has been pretty interesting to balance working in this sweet job and continuing with my studious habits, but I think I have gotten the hang of it.

Speaking of my position, I have a super sweet thing to talk about this blog. I’d like to thank all those who joined me in the tunnel for the White Ribbon Campaign and its goal of raising awareness about ending violence against women. The hand painting pledge was a success and free coffee is a great way to start a conversation early in the morning. It was wonderful to see so many students stop by and wear the ribbon in support of the cause. I am really glad that I put this event on and can only hope whomever has this position next year will consider putting in on again.

As of right now I am balancing studying for my last final and planning the events and initiatives I would like to accomplish next semester. I have learned a lot this term and semesters (as always) go by so quickly. As I hinted to in my previous blog, I am working on another student engagement initiative for next semester. A couple of spots in main floor Place Riel have been picked out for an ‘Executive Mobile Office’. I am excited to see if my idea can become a successful way for us executive members to be a little less hidden and secluded in our futuristic offices on the second floor of Place.

Oh, I also had the privilege of playing Santa at the USSU Childcare Centre!

I hope your holidays are full of merriment,
