Busy Summer
There’s just over a month left of summer, which is an intimidating thought, as your break from classes, assignments, and long readings is almost over. I feel as if I have accomplished a lot with my summer, but there is so much more I’d like to do. Thus far this summer I have: found the perfect job, traveled to Montreal (for a work conference), attended a powwow, attended two weddings, eaten homestead ice cream, played beach volleyball and soccer, eaten the bounty of my garden, watched a enthralling Saskatchewan storm, take a two year old to the Zoo (twice!), eaten my fill at Taste of Saskatchewan, hosted couchsurfers, gotten use out of Lenah (my cruiser), gotten a pitcher of Sangria on an outdoor patio, attempted paddleboarding, went to an outdoor music festival (or two) and soon I will be traveling somewhere new! I have a vacation planned for mid-to-late August to Las Vegas (for my Mom’s birthday) and California with my partner for our three-year anniversary.
Nevertheless, there is still so much that I want to do such as: to spend a day in a Canoe, go to a rodeo, make the perfect veggie burger, do more yoga, run more, read 40+ books (I’ve done probably 12), re-learn Russian, go on more picnic, pick fruit in the Okanagan Valley, watch less TV, borrow a puppy, visit my family in Calgary, go fishing, learn archery, go blueberry picking, learn how to make jam & preservatives, learn a new language… Oh there are so many things I’d love to accomplish with my summer.
Enough about me. I hope that to whomever is reading this that you have had a fantastic summer. I hope that you had a summer full of positive experiences such as finding an amazing job, making new friends in summer classes, learning new skills, taking time to appreciate the wonder and beauty of Canada, and that you’ve taken the opportunity to travel and spend time with friends!
I also hope that you are getting excited to start school! I know the assignments, exams, homework, etc. can be daunting but it really is the most fantastic opportunity. Don’t forget to keep up with our blogs as we will have tons of advice, tips, and pointers for what to expect for the upcoming year and for how to make it the best ever!
Until then, enjoy your summer and try to make the most of it!
Alex
