The Flight to San Francisco
Read about Kevin's adventures on the way to S.F.
Well, so much for "carry on luggage". I knew that I was only allowed 2 carry-on bags. However, what I didn't realize is that those bags were different sizes. One "full sized" carry on, then a "business sized" carry on (basically the size of a laptop case). So I ended up having to check one of my bags anyway. Oh well.
THEN they tell me that one of my bags is too heavy. The one with the laptop computer in it. It also had my leather biker jacket. So, I took the jacket out of the suitcase and wore it instead. Once I did that, they had no problem (even though the suitcase was the same size). Hrumph. Airlines.
I get on the flight to Calgary, and I end up sitting with the band Wide Mouth Mason. (Earl, the bass player snores.) Thursday night they played at Ness Creek. They were on their way to another gig at Edmonton.
I asked Shaun if he was going to play "What's the Buzz". When they were first starting out they used to play at Buds on Broadway a lot. I used to hang out there with his family. His aunt always used to ask them to play "What's the Buzz" from Jesus Christ Superstar.
Got into San Francisco with no problems. Got to the hotel and was going to hook up the laptop. The rooms have high-speed internet, but what they didn't tell us is it would be $12/day going from 12:00 to 12:00. I decided instead to use the Internet Cafe down the street to update the blog, at least until the conference gets rolling.
Tonight I'm going to a blues bar called Biscuits and Blues. Should be a good time.
